9th December 2014 – Road Repairs & Badminton
It was a hot day today, which made the second phase of repairing the road even more taxing than yesterday. Moving the reinforced concrete into place over the culvert was a mission, and required a fair bit of manpower (I say manpower, but we were gifted the help of the multi-talented Nur, RDA’s housekeeper & amazing cook!). Perhaps we should have made the concrete mould slightly closer to where it was going, but I stupidly opted for a flatter section to make the slabs (rather than levelling out a section a bit closer!). “Ach well”, as they say in Scotland.
Once again my friends, neighbors and guides came to lend a hand. The road is fixed – hopefully it will survive the torrential rains of the coming months!
When we finished we played a bit of badminton – an impulse buy during a recent shopping trip to Mataram. The car park is now established as a badminton court, with bamboo being used to hold the net! At the moment our play is restricted to daylight hours, but who knows, perhaps a few floodlights could make this a nighttime activity!
